The Boys Golf Team had 3 top 5 finishes in tournaments on the year and one tournament win at the NB Canyon Match Play tournament at Landa Park.  The Boys finished in 5th place at the district tournament at Pecan Valley.

The Girls Golf Team had 5 top 5 finishes and a tournament win at the Stevens Tourney at the Golf Club of Texas. The Girls finished 3rd at the district tournament at Pecan Valley.  Carly Pyle(11th) advanced to the Regional Tournament in Edinburg and finished 13th at regional with scores of 80-76.

The girls completed the 26-5A District Golf Tournament in 3rd place behind Macarthur in 1st with a 630 and Reagan in 2nd with 647. The tournament was held at Pecan Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6th and 7th. The Rangers finished with a two day total of team total of 654. The team was led by Junior Carly Pyle, scoring 74-81,  Senior Blair Best 80-77, Sophomore Sydney Reed 80-88, and Junior Hannah Turney 88-88. Morgan Best and Lauren Rios also participated as medalists. Carly Pyle will advance to the Regional tournament in Edinburg April 19-20 and will compete in the individual class. Congrats!!!

Monday, March 29th 2010, The Smithson Valley High School Lady Rangers Golf team played in a 36 hole "Tuff Girls" match with Regan, New Braunfels, and Johnson.  The match was held at Pecan Valley Golf Course in San Antonio, tee times started at 7:30 a.m. and the second round started at 1:00 p.m.  Smithson Valley High School placed 2nd, with a team total of 651.  The team was lead by Carly Pyle 82-76 158, Pyle placed 2nd individually.  Regan placed 1st with a team total of 644.  The District tournament will be held April 5-7th at Pecan Valley Golf Course.

Congratulations to the Varsity boy’s golf team for placing 3rd in the “Stevens” golf tournament on Feb. 19th & 20th 2010 at “The Golf Club of Texas”.  The boys competed in a field of 22 very competitive teams.  The team score for the two days was 628.  Individual scores are as follows: Kirby Gorzell 153, Brad Lisman 154, Joe Walsh 158, Taylor Murphy 163 and Zach Maynard 176.  We are proud of the efforts of all of our golfers!

J.V. girls played at Buckhorn golf course in Comfort TX on Jan 25.  The tourney was a 9 hole event and freshmen Morgan Best won with a score of 53. Good job!

The ranger varsity girls golf team placed fourth at the Lake Travis winter classic on Jan 18th and 19th. Senior Blair Best placed third overall and led the team with a 156 two-day total.

Juniors Carly Pyle, Hannah Turney and Sydney Reed rounded out the team. Twenty teams were in attendance and though cold, rainy weather hindered the tourney our ranger girls battled and played hard.  Way to go girls!

On Jan 25 and 26th the ranger varsity girls golf played at at the Marble Falls spring classic/Horseshoe Bay tournament.  Junior Carly Pyle placed 2nd overall.  Sixteen area teams were in attendance as juniors Carly Pyle,  Hannah Turney and sophomore Sydney Reed competed individually as medalists in this weather shortened tournament due to extreme cold and rain. Go rangers, keep up the hard work!!!

Congrats to the Ranger varsity girls golf team for placing first in the golf club of Texas tournament held on Nov. 14th.  Junior Carly Pyle placed 2nd individually with a  score of 76. the team consisted of senior Blair Best, juniors Hannah Turney, Carly Pyle and sophomore Sydney Reed. Great job girls!!!!!  The team will now get ready for the River crossing tournament to be held on Dec.4th and 5th.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys golf team!  The team competed in  the Canyon H.S. Match play Invitational Golf tournament on October 16th & 17th and WON the tournament.  There were 17 area teams in the tournament and our boys stepped up and  came together as a team to take first place. Pictured L-R are; junior Joe Walsh, sophomore Kirby Gorzell, senior Brad Lisman, sophomore Zach Maynard, and junior Connor Smith.

Congrats to the Ranger girls' golf team for taking 4th place at the at Brackenridge fall classic. There were 17 teams from the area competing. Top team scores were Blair Best-74, Carly Pyle-78, Hannah Turney-80, Sydney Reed-81, and Candace Edwards rounding out the team. Good job girls!
