|
| Record: 24 wins - 6 losses | |
| After graduating four starting seniors, and returning only three starters, 2003 was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Smithson Valley Ranger Softball team. However, the Rangers came in and not only won a District Championship title, but also made a repeat trip to the Class 5A State tournament. The Rangers came in new to Class 5A and made school history by winning the District 27 title undefeated. The Ranger's season came to an end by losing to defending Class 5A State Champion Bryan 5 to 1 in the 5A State Semifinals at McCombs field in Austin, Texas. | |

| Although the girls softball team started their 2002 season with only 3 returning starters from 2001 "State Championship" team, they proved again they had what it takes to return to the State Tournament. After defeating Brenham in the State Semi-Finals, the Lady Rangers found themselves back in the State Championship game. This time however, the outcome was different. Frisco defeated the Rangers 1-0 after a controversial call in the bottom of the 7th inning. We congratulate the team for a tremendous climb back to the top. |
